My Journey into Street Style Photography
My journey into street style photography began with a simple fascination for the way people and locations express themselves through clothing, art, and timing. Armed with my FujiFilm XT-1 and a keen eye for detail, I started capturing the cities around me, and the people within them.
Finding Inspiration
Inspiration can be found everywhere. I often draw from:
Local Events: Fashion shows, art exhibitions, and cultural festivals are great places to find artists and unique individuals to draw inspiration from.
Urban Landscapes: The different backdrops of a city can enhance the story behind a photograph. I love exploring different neighbourhoods, alleys, streets, and spaces to discover unique settings.
Skateboard Culture: I started skating when I was 15 years old and the style left an impact on how I dress, carry myself, and express myself. The rugged and raw feel of skateboarding inspired the desire to capture street styled photography.
Developing My Style
Over time, I developed my own style of street photography. I focus on:
Candid Shots: Capturing people as they live and move organically, unaware of the art I capture, often leads to the most authentic images.
Colour and Composition: I love paying attention to the colours and architecture of the world, and how they interact the framing, composition, and story of a photo. A well-composed shot can elevate the subject's style.
Storytelling: Each photograph tells a story. I aim to capture not just the clothing but the personality and mood of the individual.
Techniques for Capturing Street Style

Showcasing My Portfolio

Image 1: Telephone Stickers
This photo showcases the community aspect of our cities. This telephone pole in Whitehorse, YT, is covered in stickers from who knows where. I find it interesting that so many people from so many background unknowingly contributed to this art piece.
Image 2: Expressive Moment Captured
In this shot, I focused on the natural expression this elder was making. The expression, raw emotion, and serious look really captured my interest. I like this one a lot actually. The framing is great, with his jacket clearly opposing the brightness of the background. His goggles seeing the world as his eyes shut aggressively.

I really love this one a lot. If you're on this page, reading this text, just know this one connects with me, and I hope it connects with you. I like the framing of it, the seriousness it poses, and the message of the poster. One trying to communicate their ideas, to those who have a keen eye and notices the world around them. As I have noticed.
